Here I am, lying in this strange bed staring at the ceiling, in a room I've never been in before. I am really bored, I counted the ceiling tiles twice, and there are 46 tiles in this room. I heard a loud noise coming from the door, I turned over to the door way where a large man stood, he was wearing a long white hospital uniform, oh if I forgot to mention I'm in a hospital, he walked over to me with a look on his face that said "I have better thing to do with my time" and asked "Have you finished filling out the forms I gave you?" I nodded my head, yes and pointed out the forms left on the table with a CD placed on top. He then asked "And your last will and testament" I laughed to myself as I thought how a 25 year old man could be asked about his last will and testament, I again nodded my head in compliance to the question as he walked over to the table to pickup the forms and remarked when he saw the CD, "Video will, why did you choose that?" I replied "I don't know I just did"

He then grabbed the form and CD, scanning over to see if I hadn't made any mistakes on the form. After he finished he snapped his fingers and a female nurse walked in pushing a wheelchair, she then pushed it over to my bed as the man lifted me out of the bed and into the wheelchair. I know what you're thinking, 'Did something happen to this guy or is he just lazy?' Something did happen to this guy, a lifetimes worth of bad luck in only a year. I'm the last of my family line, all dead, all car accidents, all in a course of a year, a parade of funerals leading up to mine. It was strange, all the accidents had one thing in common, other then the fact that they were all related, was that they all crashed head first into, not even a attempt to turn to avoid the accident, crashing into other cars, buildings, off cliffs, and Aunt Clementine drove right into a lake.

When they pulled out the car, she was still in there, dead, still wearing her seat belt; it looked as if she didn't want to get out. I knew there was something wrong, ever cense a couple of months before the first accident, Cristal, my ex-girlfriend started acting weird, getting all clingy and saying thing about us getting married and having a perfect wedding and having perfect children that she said she would splice our DNA together and remove any quote 'imperfect elements' to make them perfect.

That is also when I found out that she was not taking her meds, yah she was a genus in both genetics and chemistry but she was also mentally unstable and the meds made sure she didn't go off the deep end. Most of my family thought she was a nut and said that I could do better; she probably thought that they were trying to keep us apart, and that's when she started killing them, I don't know how but, I know that she was responsible for there deaths, I just don't have any proof she did.

A few days after my Mother funeral, the last member of my family to meet her end, I started feeling strange, I woke up to find that my big toe on my right foot went completely numb. I knew something was wrong with me so I took the bus to my doctor, not wanting to tempt fate by driving, and told him about my problem, he told me that he had to do some tests to figure out what was wrong with me, he did all the normal procedures and told me to come back in a week and by that time all my toes had also gone numb. He said that there was nothing he could do, and that this was something that he has never seen before, a healthy male, with no paralyzing diseases in his family, he told me that I would have to go to the hospital for more tests.

A few days roll by as I was walking to the bathroom, when all of a sudden I drop to the ground like a bag of potatoes, I immediately begin to panic, both my feet had gone numb, it's starting to spread more quickly. By the time the doctors told me the bad news, it had already spread to my knees, they told me that there was nothing they could to help me, and that medical science has only gone so far. That is when I met Dr. Blank, he was no like the other doctors at the hospital, he was wearing a suit and tie, he asked me "If medical science now as only gone so far then what about in the future?" I sarcastically asked if he had a time machine to take me to a point in the future when they do to which he replied "Something like that" and asked if I wanted to be the first man in history to be cryogenically frozen, he has been working on it for years now and he think that it will work, all he needs is a test subject and that I am perfect for the job, he was about ask if I needed time to think about it when I told him that I was ready as I will ever be, I could see the joy burst in his face as he then sprinted for the door shouting that he needs to get some paper work for me to sign and that I would need to make my will, and before I could ask why he was already gone.

A few days went by as I became an instant celebrity, "First man to be Cryogenically Frozen" read the newspaper, everyone was excited over the 'new possible breakthrough in medical science'. Everyone except Cristal who burst into my hospital room screaming about how this is ruining our relationship and that the procedure will never work, I quick commended on that this relationship will never work and told her I might take her back if she started taking her medication again, to which she started mumbling about how the medication was clouding her thoughts and she needs her mind to be clear in order to think. Then the security walked in thru the busted door way and dragged her off kicking and screaming, they the took me to another room and told me to fill out some forms and if I needed some help with the will, all I had to do was press a buzzer and a lawyer would be down shortly, before they left I asked for a video camera, and they told me that they would get me one shortly.

I pored my heart out on this video will, starting with 'to whom it may concern' just to try to sound more heart broken as tried to keep myself up right in the hospital bed , I then finished the paper work placed it on the table with the CD with my video will on it and waited for them to get me, that where this started now I am being wheeled down to the room where I will be frozen, when I heard from approaching doctors that some crazy bitch tried to smash the cryogenic tube screaming something about it destroying there relationship, when Cristal rushed down the corridor welding a scalpel with two security guards hot on her tail, she then stopped right in front of me, panting furiously as the two guards garbed hold of both her arms and started to pull her away, she then screamed "YOU CAN'T DO THIS, I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME?! EVERYTHING I DID WAS FOR YOU!" I knew that this was the only chance I had left to know the truth so I asked her "Cristal, you killed my family didn't you?" her eyes looked more crazed then ever as she responded "YES I DID IT, DON'T YOU SEE THERE WERE TRYING TO KEEP US APART, I HAD TO KILL THEM!" I then asked "And what is happening my body, is that your fault to?" and at that point she seemed confused by the question and told me "No it wasn't, but please I can help you, please let me help you!" to which I replied "It's to late for that now" to which one of the security guards elbowed her in the back of the head, knocking her unconscious, as she lost conscious she let go of the scalpel and let it drop to the floor.

We then continue down the hallway to the room with the cryogenic tube in it, the nurse then opens the door, as I think to myself 'There's no turning back now', as I look into the room I see that the tube is a large table with a glass dome attached to it at the back, on the glass dome are tubes that go off into a large machine in the back, there are monitors all around it. The good doctor peers his head from the doorway and motions with his hands to have me wheeled in, he tells me everything I need to know about what will happen when I am Cryogenically Frozen, which included a small peace of info about how it will seem like a second to me after I am unfrozen but it will be much longer then that, and that I should brace myself for what the future will look like. The doctor then lifted me onto the table and asked if I was ready and I answered "Ready as I'll ever be" he lowed the glass and I closed my eyes.

When I opened my eyes and looked up at the ceiling I found that it looked exactly the same as before I was frozen, how long has it really been scene I was frozen? I tried to prop myself up to gage my surroundings when a hand grabbed my throat and pushed me back onto the table, it didn't feel human, I then heard a scratchy and growly voice tell me "Lie still human." I then heard rustling of papers and he then said "Oh, you're THAT human." He then continued as he flipped me onto my side facing away from him "You have a very rare form of bacteria that slowly paralyzes the victim, untraceable during the time of humans."  I could feel a needle being gabbed into my back as I though to myself 'Time of humans? What's going on? What year is this?' Those question where quickly pushed to the back of my mind as I realized that I could feel my legs again, I was so happy, I sat up as quickly as I could and looked around the room, there was something wrong with this room, I just didn't know what it was, I then saw there was a window, that was new.

I was about to stand up to look outside when the door swung open to reveal a strange lion like creature standing in the door way with a stethoscope around his neck and a some cloths under his arm, he quickly tossed the cloths at me with an angry "Put these on human!" I quickly caught the tossed cloths and looked down to find that I was still wearing the hospital gown that I was given when I first entered the hospital, when I looked back up, he had already left, probably to give me some privacy. I noticed that the clothing didn't come with socks or shoes, I don't know why but baggers can't be choosers, I then quickly put on the cloths I was given and walked over to the window, I looked out the window to find that it looked absolutely the same as before I was frozen, but it didn't look right, there where no people or cars, it looked like it a painting void of life, I was about to try and tough the glass when the lion man burst thru the door grabbed hold of my arm and told me "Come with me human!" he then started pulling me down a long corridor, there were lots of offices, with animal like creatures sitting behind large desks, minding there own business not even taking another glance at me, I found that the office where also void of life having nothing in them other then the large desks and the windows all looked the same as the one in the room I came in from.

We then stopped at a room at the end of the hallway, where he opened the door and pushed me, slamming the door behind me, I looked forward to find that the room looked exactly the same as the other offices in the hallway I came thru only bigger and there was a chair sitting in front of the desk where a cat like creature brown and white fur with green cat like eyes was sitting, I know that she's female having such large breasts, but I could be wrong, I then realized that some of the creatures in the offices where wearing clothing from where I saw, when I noticed that she was wearing a gray t-shirt. She was licking at her arm and rubbing her head, possibly grooming, I quickly sat in the chair and after a moment she realize my presents, and looked at me eye to eye lend over the desk and playfully said "So you're a human, not quite what I imagined. but still" she then started to slowly climb over the desk towards me, I then also found that she was wearing blue jeans.

When she got close enough to me that my hand suddenly jerked forward and begin to scratch her, probably an automatic response to owning a cat for several years, she then sat right next to my chair and purred loudly, pushing her head upwards on my hand to get me to scratch harder. She then muttered to herself "Humans are so interesting, but soon that will be all over," before I could ask what she was talking about the door swung open and the lion man walked in with an angry and looked right at the cat woman, she then jumped to her feet with a scared look on her face and quietly whimpered "Sir, I…" she quickly stopped when he gave her a look that seemed to say 'you sicken me, get back to work!' he then left as quickly as he came with a slam of the door. She then jumped back into her seat, lead back, took a deep breath, when she lead forward again she looked more calm then she was a few minutes ago.

She started to tell me what I needed to know about the future that I am now apart of, and that her name was Cathy, she then mentioned that yes, her name does have cat in it and that she is a cat, she wasn't the one to choose her name, it was her parents job, and they are a fan of puns. She told me that this is the year 3010, and that over a thousand years have past, and that she can quickly answer some of the questions that I might ask that others have asked, so no, she is not an alien, and no they have not made contact with extraterrestrials, they also have no hover car, androids, food in pill form, instant teleportation or any other science fiction based future stuff, but despite what you may see here, the world has changed, they  only use this to keep the unfrozen humans calm. She commented on that she should start at the beginning, she then dropped a bomb on me when she told me that I am the last remaining human left on the planet, I demanded to know why, so she told me. Apparently, 30 years after I was frozen, mankind had reached its lowest point, the planet was being slowly killed by pollution, so a brilliant scientist named Dr Denis Blank set forth a plan to try and change the world of the better, I quickly commented the man who told me about the freezing process was named Dr Blank, to which she commented on that it must have been his father Dr William Blank, creator and inventor of the cryogenics tube. She continued on saying that Dr Blank believed that if mankind was uncaring to the mother earth then he would have to open there eye himself, he called his project, Rebirth.

He and the other who believed in what he said set forth to complete the project by spreading a special formula into every water treatment plant on earth, releasing the animal within whoever drank it, and before mankind knew it more then half of the human population had been reborn. At first most of them were scared, afraid of what they had become, but soon the grew to love there new form, but the humans thought that they were ugly and horrible creature, calling them half-humans and monsters, trying desperately to get Dr Blank to develop an antidote for what they called a poison, going as far as torturing him, and with his last dying breath he told them "My creation is an antidote to a poison call mankind."

Mankind fought against the new order for many years until they were simply wiped out, leaving only the planet they themselves were bringing to the brink of becoming uninhabitable and the ones we soon called the lost ones, the like me that were cryogenically frozen because of disease that mankind could not cure. They worked for centuries working on the cures for those diseases and then using them on the defrostees, then integrating them into their society, all the way up to me. She then reminded me that I was the last human on earth, and with that she snapped her fingers and a Goat man walked thru the door holding a glass of water, just plain, ordinary water, he placed it on the table and left the room, she told me that they had recreated the formula just for us defrostees to help us integrate into there society and that I was going to be the last one to drink it, I hesitated and asked "What should I call this new society? It would be weird if I called everyone animal people." She replied "We are Lycans, we like to add our species to the name in order to add verity to it, like I am a Cat Lycan, and soon will know yours." She grabbed the glass and handed to me, I was still hesitating but I had to, so with a deep breath and a quick 'cheers' rising my glass up slightly, I swallowed the whole thing in one glob, it tasted just like normal water, I put down the glass to realize that the transformation had just begun. My fingernails had transformed into small claws and a light brown fur was slowly beginning to cover the back of my hand, I looked down at my feet to find that the same thing was happening to my toes; I looked at the palms of my hands to find small black balloons pushing out of the skin on my palms and fingers.

The same thing was happening to the soles of my feet and even though both my feet were firmly planted on the ground, I could feel the heels of my feet slowly move upward and the only thing that was touching the floor were the hind feet, I could hear my heart pounding my chest as the fur began to cover almost my entire body. I could feel something poking its way out of a hole in my pants, I really hadn't noticed the hole up to now as fur began to envelop my newly formed tail, soon the fur was covering almost all of my body and was now making a b-line for my neck, as the fur began to envelop my head, I could feel my ear point and shift as my mouth and nose stretched into a muzzle, I quickly blink to then realize that my vision was now only in black and white, I reached up to touch my new ears and felt them move as if they had a mind of there own. I looked back Cathy who seemed to have a look on her face as if she were unsatisfied by my transformation, Cathy then whined "Oh, a dog, why couldn't you have become a cat? I haven't had any good action in months" I knew something was up when I first met her, owning a cat for so many years I realized that she was in heat, I didn't know why, when I first entered I had my suspicions but now I was now certain.

Cathy looked annoyed at me for some reason and asked me "Come on Fido, say something I haven't got all day." I as about to speak when the door opened and a small black cat walked into the room clenching a brown bag between its teeth, the cat jumped onto the table and tried to mumble something but we were both unable to understand what the cat was saying, the cat dropped the bag from it's mouth onto the desk and with a small voice told her "You forgot your lunch, my mommy asked me to bring it for you." I was shocked to find that could understand what the cat was saying; Cathy told me that all Lycans could understand and talk to animals, and that her name was Luna, and that both their families were bonding for generations, a lot of Lycans did the same and that they were now searching for a good doggy friend so I would not get lonely.

Her eyes widened and she then leaped to her feet, she rushed over to one side of the room next to the window and told me "This was support to be the first thing I would show you but I forgot, so… here goes nothings" She then grabbed hold of a corner of the fake window cover and pulled it off revealing the real window beneath it. I was blown away by what I saw, I got up from my chair and started walking over to the window not knowing that I had not tripped ones on the way over to the window, like my mind had already gotten used to my new body, I looked out the window, I was amazed at the number of Lycan outside, hundreds of them, all shapes and sizes, I also noticed the trees, skyscraper sized tree, with doors and windows, I thought the whole thing looked like a Berenstain bears child's book only with more a types of animals.

The only word that came out of my mouth was "wow" I thought it was strange that I could still talk normally with my new mouth, she then told me to change what I thought was 'talking normally' because I was now speaking dog and that I didn't notice because the human and animal sides of were working together to process the barks and woofs into words I could understand. When I asked why I could understand her when I was human, she looked very proud of herself she explained that she was taught human speak for this part-time job, I was about to explain that it was English and not human speak, but soon realized that that tidbit of information was useless now that there were no humans around to speak it.

She then asked me about my past and why I was frozen in the first place, I quickly told her about what had happened up to my freezing, and she commented on how my ex-girlfriend was a quote 'Psycho Bitch' I totally agreed with her and telling her that I would sometimes wonder why I liked her in the first place,
Over the next few days, I was integrated into the Lycan society and started working as a construction worker, which should be called gardener because most building are trees so all I have to do in drop a seed into the ground and watch it grow, They Also found me a new friend to live with,  a Doberman by the name of Paul, who was like me, an orphan with no one to love, we soon became best friends, we did almost everything together, everything in my life feels good, and I can finally call this place, home.
